Killing an app

type ps -A at the prompt as root.

FInd the PID (number in first col) that corresponds to your application.

Then type kill <PID> at the prompt.

If the window is still there do this: Ctrl + Alt + Esc. The pointer will turn into a skull and bones thing. Put the curser on the top portion of the window and click. It should die. It may take a few seconds to completly go away but it works for me.

Hope that helps

I had to use that in 9.1 a few times. I have had to use it a lot in 9.2. They won't die sometimes.

Bug report maybe?

Later

Oh, don't click on the desktop. I did that once and it killed X. Lost my unsaved stuff.
