This is how to configure a Sierra Wireless 860 3G card for Cingular service.

3G Wireless Service Provider - Cingular.com

Mandriva 2007.1 PowerPack

Go to Sierra Wireless and download the Linux.tar file
http://www.sierrawireless.com/resour...card_Linux.tar

After you download the package, please make sure you have the location where the AirCard file is downloaded. Next click
Mandriva-> System-> Terminals-> Konsole
type

Enter the root password. Navigate to the directory where the firmware is located. Once you are in that directory, type

tar xvfz Aircard_8xx_Linux.tar.gz

cp ac850 ac850chat SW_8xx_SER.dat /lib/firmware

cd /lib/firmware

Verify that ac850, ac850chat, and SW_8xx_SER.dat are in the /lib/firmware directory.

mv SW_8xx_SER.dat SW_7xx_SER.dat

chmod 777 ac850 ac850chat SW_7xx_SER.dat

Next, start the Mandriva Control Center
Mandriva-> System-> Configuration-> Configure Your Computer

Click "Network & Internet"
Click "Set up a new network interface (LAN, ISDN, ADSL, ...)
Next select, GPRS/Edge/3G. Click Next

In the next box, the Sierra Wireless card should be detected, and you should see something similar to

"Sierra Wireless AC860 3G Network Adapter R1"

Click Next.

Pin Number = 0000
(Above is four consecutive zeros).

The next selection is "Please select your network"
The option listed is
Unlisted - edit manually.
Click Next.

"Please select your provider"
Unlisted - edit manually
France

For Cingular, select "Unlisted - edit manually"

Access Point Name = isp.cingular
Account Login = ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Account Password = CINGULAR1

Please note that the login and password are ALL CAPITALS.

Click Next. Answer the remaining questions.

The green light on your Sierra Wireless 860 should be blinking, and you should have a Cingular 3G Connection.
