checking for new hardware

Mandrake 9.1 is taking a long time to boot. It halts for about 30 seconds at looking for new hardware. Is this normal?

Maybe

I have a pretty swift rig and mine stays there for a while to. It actually checks to see if you added or removed hardware. It even noticed once that I moved a CD drive from slave to master.
Mine sits for about 20 seconds or so. If your proc is a little slower than mine this is likely normal. Do like I do, Don't shutdown. I leave mine running 24/7. I may logout on occasion but that's it.

 :D :D :jawa:

If you don't add new hardware all the time, you can go to Mandrake Controlcetner->system->services and then disable harddrake starting at boot.
