changeing window mangers ??

hi
i just did an upgrade on my Mandriva box, it was runing as a console/shell box, now that i'v upgraded the mainbaord/cpu/ram/gfx and did a reinstall i'v now got the window manger up as (i think its) x-window as it;s giveen me a blue screen with a clock and a console. any idead on how to get this to kde or genome ???

Hi,

This may be blatantly obvious but have you tried restarting your computer, logging into the command prompt and typing "kdm". Works for me!

Of course, you'll need KDE installed....

nope, did try startkde, but this is now sorted, i formated and reinstalled, managed to keep my /home
not i got to try and rember how to restart this egg drop bot
oh and set up remote access
