Ok....when ever I insert a linux cd into my computer or attempt to install software from my linux cd's my pc freezes and i have to restart it with the power switch
music cd's are fine...but it seems my system doesnt like data cd's...any ideas?
im running 9.1 and how would i go about disabling supermount.....sorta new at this....bout the only way i can install something is if its allready on the cd and i reformat and make sure to select it manually.....
like i needed the autofs package and i couldnt install it with just the cd or the packages on the net so i reinstalled linux to get it....which is a real pain in the @$$...
and i am assuming the cd's are iso9660 format.....i did download the iso's from mandrake and burned them straight to cd's
in a konsole it says "command not found" so i am assuming that its not even on my system....
i am begging to wonder if i need to download the 9.1 iso's WITH linux and BURN THEM....WITH LINUX....cuz i was using win xp/2000 when i dl'd and burned it....thinking that is my problem...bad installation cd's.....bad checksum maybe....cuz i am having all sorts of weird problems....
hell when i finally got linux to recognize my 810 graphics chip i kept trying to configure it for my ati radeon 7500 64mb pci and my display would get screwed or couldnt see so i kept reformatting and trying again....now it doesnt work on my 810 chip and i dont see any thing untill i press ctrl-alt-f4 several times and it shows up on my ati card instead......but in kde control it says im using my 810 chip.....WEIRD.....
console command?? if your talking about when i run commands like ./configure|make|make install to install software then yeah....but they dont seem to work tho either....and i dont get any errors from them....if thats what your talking about....
i've tried mounting the cd rom but its not working.....
and i cant seem to figure out which device its on
hdc
scd0
cdrom
i just dunno which one it is....and when ever i try every one to mount it it tells me
[root@localhost AntiVir]# mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom
/dev/hdc: Input/output error
mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only
/dev/hdc: Input/output error
mount: you must specify the filesystem type
