cant install vlc media player
when i try to install vlc from its source code it gives an error after running ./configure
Code:
configure: error: Missing header file ffmpeg/avcodec.h. what should i do |
just do urpmi vlc
|
Yup, not only is urpmi the way to do it, but if you install it this way, you'll find that you'll get a slew of optiona plugins and enhancements that you would otherwise miss.
Also urpmi will automatically download and install any missing libs, software, etc. which might be required w/o messing up your installation as tarballs can often do. |
well as i am new to this i dont understand it much.. is urpmi a way to install software?? i tried but console says command not found. do i need to install urpmi
edit:- i just found out i have urpmi and gurpmi installed. but how do i run them? isnt rpmdrake the same thing? if yes then how do i add ftp links to it |
Heh, I'm glad you asked....
See my sig? Go to that web site for an explanation, and instructions on how to set things up. After you have done what they say RPMDRAKE will also list all of the additional software available via the repositories. |
go to this site:
http://www.linuxfordummies.org/addmedia/ and it will give you code to copy and paste into the terminal to set up urpmi my bad, i shouldnt assume that you know what urpmi is, or how to set it up..a couple months ago i didnt know either |
