Cant boot Mandriva 2006 dvd iso

hey folks

I downloaded the DVDiso version of Mandi 2006 and am having a problem.

when i boot from it, it starts but crashes on initilization. my *guess* is that the machine is incorrectly interpreting my dvd-rw as a cd-r because i keep getting errors that it cant read past a specified block range.

is there any way to force the install to accept my drive as a dvd drive at boot? cause it really doesnt like it and i cant get it to install properly otherwise unless i boot from the 3 cd collection. Once its in there its fine.. its just getting it installed to begin with thats the problem.

thanks.

I have seen many posts like these.
Use a dvd-R or dvd+R not a RW

Did you check the md5 checksum?

the media was dvd-r, not rw, and no i havent checked the md5sum. i have never had a problem with the sums in the past, however i think its possible my bios needs updating which could be the cause.

What is the exact message?

I would guess unlikely a bios problem, but just a guess based on limited experience, and the fact that you do manage to boot (even if not very far)
