cannot view webpage

When I want to enter the site with konqueror, http://home.cityfamily.com.tw/ayavstsukasa, it shows a dialog asking me whether saving this site as a new file or choosing an app to open it. If I choose konqueror, just do the previous same thing, another identical dialog appears. In a word, I cannot access this site. Would someone help me? Thanks.

well, that link is a file, it seems, and not a web page. Have you tried going to
http://home.cityfamily.com.tw? It's just the parent page.

I agree. I don't think the problem is related to Konqueror per se, its just that the link you are trying to follow is not a web page. I guess a round-about analogy would be trying to open a compiled program in your browser. Imagine trying to open "Gimp" (not a picture created in Gimp... but actually _Gimp_) using "Konqueror" and you have a comparison.

What made you want to follow that link? If a friend gave it to you, then either (1) they gave you the wrong page; or (2) you need to actually download the link and then use another program to open it.

OK, try this link instead. Is that it?

Here's what's happened. The page you directed us to is in fact a web page, but where most pages are named with a proper extension (usually .htm or .html or something), this one appears be breaking a few of the normal (correct) rules of the web (the default page to load had a .bin file extension).

I downloaded the page you suggested, and opened it up gedit to see what was in there, and it was a JavaScript that essentially redirected you to http://home.cityfamily.com.tw/rurl.asp?name=X;, where "X" was whatever appears after the last "/" in the address. So long story short, if everything went correct, you should have been redirected to http://home.cityfamily.com.tw/rurl.a...e=ayavstsukasa and if you follow that link it pushes you to the one I gave you. WHEW!

Whomever coded that page did a crap-ass job. I don't think you can blame Mozilla or Konqueror for not getting it... its probably more a situation of IE screw-ups that *look* like htey are useful, but actually are breaking many rules of the web.

I hope this helps.

hey bigVoice, had the same idea.

Downloaded the file and you can actually open it in konqueror from a terminal by:
konqueror ayavstsukasa
it redirects you to the page. Weird.

Sorry still to bother you so far.
I've tried the links you gave me, but it redirected me to a new site soon, and it's not what I want.
Maybe this site makes a difficulty for linux users to get in on purpose. Thanks for your help, however.
Oh, there's another thing I need to say: I won't blame konqueror for this little thing. I believe linux will become a system standard one day.

Hey Tony,

It's not right? Hmm, well, if I remember, next time I'm in front of a windows box I'll take a look in IE. One of the pages that you go to is ASP, which means the author can re-direct and control things on the server side. It is possible that they are doing a "if IE send to this page, otherwise, send to this other page that tony doesn't want".

Seems silly, but entirely possible. Thanks for not blaming Konqueror
