Cannot find compat-libstdc++

I'm trying to install java 5 (j2eesdk-1_4_03).
I get this:
./j2eesdk-1_4_03-linux.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I've gathered I need "compat-libstdc++" package
(Last lines of http://livedocs.macromedia.com/coldf...e=00000005.htm

However, urpmi gives:
urpmq compat-libstdc++
no package named compat-libstdc++

Help ?

An rpm named compat-libstdc++ is meant only for Redhat/Fedora based systems. On Mandriva, the right package to install libstdc++-5.

I assume u meant libstdc++5; urpmq said no package for libstdc++-5
:
urpmi libstdc++5
To satisfy dependencies, the following 2 packages are going to be installed (6 MB):
libstdc++5-3.3.6-2mdk.i586
libstdc++5-devel-3.3.6-2mdk.i586

...

./j2eesdk-1_4_03-linux.bin
./j2eesdk-1_4_03-linux.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

It still wont work :(

That was a typo, I meant libstdc++5. Anyway looking at your error message again, you were given the wrong advice, the right package to install is libstdc++2.10.

Installed libstdc++2.10. But now the java bin install file hangs:
./j2eesdk-1_4_03-linux.bin
Checking available disk space...
Checking Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment...
Extracting Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment files...
*** glibc detected *** corrupted double-linked list: 0x080643e0 ***
Deleting temporary files...

At this point the program hangs (CTRL C wont kill it, I have to do kill -9)
ps x

I am not sure how to resolve that one. Is there any specific reason why you are installing j2eesdk 1.4 instead of 1.5.

It was the only one I got (latest) from the sun java site (it said includes java 5).
Do they have a j2eesdk 1.5 ? How do I get to it ?

This is what it said:
J2EE 1.4 includes JDK 5.0

Sorry, J2EE 1.5 is still beta.

Also install libg++2* and it will work.
