Can boot mandrake installer, but not installed OS.
Hi everyone, I have a strange problem which I'm not quite sure how to solve:
I've been trying to install linux on a new box, and i am only able to see past the bootloader in the installers for mandrake and redhat. With Gentoo and SuSE I get a black screen immediately after the bootloader. Anyhow, I have installed Mandrake 9.2 (the install went without a hitch), and after installing and rebooting I was presented with the Mandrake LILO bootloader. After pressing enter I got a black screen again. Seems like the computer is working but I see no video. Tried GRUB, LILO-text, nofb kernel, and failsafe kernel to no avail. What about the installer's kernel would allow me to see the boot messages? |
Maybe try a ssh connection from another computer. Windows? get putty...

yeah, I tried that, and i can connect, but theres still no video on the console of the actual pc so its not very useful
FYI, the pc is an AMD Thunderbird 1.4GHz with a VIA kt133a chipset and an AGP GeForce 3 Ti500 |
