i cant ping anything by "name" (other than localhost).
fresh install, 9.2 on a laptop, wireless (working).
i know this is some simple configuration, that somehow my computer isn't going out to the internet looking for a dns server. i have 4 other computers working fine, so i know it isn't my router configuration.
Suggestion 1: Unplug your router, and plug your computer directly into your high-speed modem and re-run drakconnect. I know you say your pretty sure it isn't the router... but let's be sure.
You also mention that you have 4 other computers running. What OS(s)? Do you have a flavour of Linux running? Mandrake specifically?
Suggestion 2: Try disabling your firewall. If you're pretty sure you don't have one running, check anyways. I'm unfortunately not in front of Mandrake right now... but I think its under Configure your computer --> Security --> Firewall. Disable everything so that you are unprotected. Try again.
Let us know what that reveals, and at least if you already have Mandrake as one of your 4 connected computers, etc.
