Can't unmount partition with DiskDrak, or umount

Trying to resize my partition /home (dev/hda2) because I accidentally made it too small when I installed. I can't unmount the partition to resize it because obviously there are processes running on /home. Using DiskDrak on Mandrake 9.1, after clicking on the /home partition and then clicking the 'unmount' button, the resize button does not appear as it is supposed to. Using umount from the command line, I get the message that /home can't be unmounted because it is busy. What am I overlooking?

Boot to rescue mode using the 1st install CD Then resize as desired. You will be limited to a console app like parted.

That's what I was gonna try, but I got another problem, can't install parted...
When trying to install the e2fsprogs, which is required for parted, the 'make' routine errors out because of:

In file included from ../../misc/lsattr.c:42:
../../lib/et/com_err.h:-21137: internal error: Segmentation fault
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/> for instructions.

parted might be already on the 1st CD.
