Can't remove /boot link from desktop!
A while back I accidentally made a link to /boot on my desktop while making a link to my win c:. but now I want to get rid of it and can't. If I right click it my only option is to umount which I can't do bcuz I'm not root, when I am root it's not there, diskdrake says it's not mounted? How can I force remove it from my desktop. I'm using KDE 3.1.3.
Thank you |
Try opening a konsole.
cd Desktop ls then use rm followed by whatever the link is called. |
I just tried it when I list the dir it's not there?

Hmm...there are no files that could be the link?
See if it's in /usr/share/apps/kdesktop/Desktop. You'll need to be root to delete anythihng from there. |

What really gets me is that a couple days ago I completely formatted and re-installed including /home and it's still there. this sux! |
Unfortunately I'm using kde 3.2 so i'm not sure if these directions are right for your version.
Try right-clicking on the desktop -> Configure your Desktop Choose behavior, then Device Icons, or generally look around for options about Showing device icons. Try unchecking the options about Mounted or Unmounted Hard Disc partitions, and see if that takes care of it. |
THANK YOU! THAT DID IT!!!!!
I don't know how I did that because i'm sure I never checked that box, oh well either way it's gone! :) I apreciate it. |
