Can't get Mandriva 2007 to work

First I tried the 4 cd install. Install went nicely just as it always does for mandriva but when I do a first boot it all seems to go nicely but After the loading splash screen it gives me a very garbled up dialog box. Very messed up. Anyway you can't click on anything here. You have to force a reboot. It reboots and now it no longer even gives that anymore. It just gives a nice blue background and curser. Nothing on the screen to click on or anything.

The same thing happens when I tried to do this on the single DVD distribution. Also I'd like to mention I've been going for the 64bit version of linux here.

I'm also running this in dual boot mode right now.

I've tried reinstalling several times and it always provides the same results.

If anyone knows anything about this i would be very thankful.

If the install offered specific video card drivers during install and you said yes try
installing without them. If this works you can install the driver later.
This caused an install failure for me, and the driver loaded after it was up and running
worked perfectly-3D and all

Since you mention dual boot I guess you have something else that operates the hardware
OK, so you may want to check NVIDIA's site for any Linux clash with the card you have,
and check the Hardware forum for others using this card.

can you see grub startup screen?
If yes, edit the first command line and add video=vesa
That should boot ok in graphic mode
You can then try to install proprietary graphic driver

otherwise add single as a keyword to grub command line
then once booted, in txt mode, as root,
use drakconf to select vesa driver

then either reboot or type
init 5
