Can't download pages in Firefox 1.5.0.7 and Opera 9

Hi, I am using Mandriva Powerpack 2007. I enabled Bitdefender yesterday from the control center. I am saying "enabled" because when I checked Bitdefender in the control center the "apply" button didn't go active. SO I assumed I had to just check Bitdefender and when I restart Linux, it will become activated itself. I don't know if it is active. I was thinking after checking Bitdefender it will install and ask for the DVD, but nothing like that happen. I was trying to install all the "main", "contrib", etc for mandrivausers.org easy urpmi website and it was happening at night so I didn't know when I fell asleep. So that operation might have been interrupted. I am running Mandriva on my Toshiba Satellite M35-S320 and I don't know for some reason it doesn't come back from a standby, so I assume the processes of main and contrib might have been interrupted.

The error I am facing right now may be related to both of the issues above and that's whay I mentioned them. I am using Firefox and Opera and although it shows I am connected to the internet (my internet works fine on windows, and it worked fine even on Mandriva yesterday before evening), neither Firefox nor Opera download pages. Is it bitdefender or the interruption of the installation of main and contrib? I also wanted to know if I have to install the main, contrib, etc. manually. I assumed all I had to do was go to the control center and click on update, but doing that never brings any updates. It can either mean my system is up to date or I am missing something to be able to update. Any help regarding these issues will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Update: For now, I can access the internet and I don't know why. One other interesting thing I noticed is that when I go to the control center, Bitdefender is still unchecked, means it doesn't seem to be installed. I tried checking it again and clicked on "Apply". After a few seconds there's a dialog box which asks me to wait until the change has been made, but when it gets done, Bitdefender is again delected. Why would this be happening and why am I not able aot install Bitdefender? I am also again installing the packages of main, contrib and plf.

I found out that after installing all the main, contrib and plf packages from Easyurpmi on manrivausers.org, I could properly install BitDefender and I can also update the packages already installed on my system. I am not particularly sure why it gave me errors before but as the result of the trials indicated, it worked for me. In case someone is facing the same problem as I did and as described in the previous post, this information may help.
