Cable Modem Connection

Hi Folks,

I have to configure my cable modem connection every time I start my machine. I have to go into:

Administer your system> Configure your computer> Hardware> Hardware> ...and then select 'Ethernetcard' and 'Run Config Tool'.

After this is works fine. The next time I boot however, I have to do the configuration again. Any ideas how I can fix it?

I am running Mandrake V10. My modem is connected via the Ethernet controller.

PS - I don't have any such problems when I run Windows.

You should use the Network and Internet option and set up a new connection. It has a wizard. I just got DSL a couple of days ago and that's how I set it up. Now when I boot to Mandrake (or XP for that matter) it's already connected. It does give you the option to connect after boot but I chose the connect at boot option.

This is the wizard I am using. The problem is that I have to use it every time I boot, even though I have checked the 'Start at boot' option. I don't know if it is failing to store my settings or what?
