Buying 9.2 For NTFS

I am going to buy 9.2 very shortly and I am wondering how well does it read NTFS Partitions?

I am using NTFS from Windows 2000 Professional.

I use Mandrake 9.1 and can access my NTFS drive (read only of course) no probs. So MDK 9.2 should also have no probs. Don't expect to write to NTFS though, even if there is support to write to it, it's still pretty buggy and will probably corrupt your data.

There are utilities to "fix" a NTFS drive after you've written to it AND before you've rebooted to Windows, but is it really worth it??

I've got 9.2 and can read NTFS with ZERO problems. That said, I agree with the previous poster that writing to NTFS is still not something I'd trust my data to. If you want to read and write the same files in both windows and linux, then set up a FAT32 partition for that.

Reading from NTFS has nothing to do with the distro but rather the kernel and any latest distro with the latest kernel's are all going to handle these the same way.

There is an option for R/W under NTFS. I haven't tried it, but came across it recently when doing a google search on this subject.

Might be worth a look. Frankly, still to risky for me.....
