Black Screen after install of 2007

I've been using Mandrake/Mandriva, every version since 9, with no problems. Now I've tried to install 2007 three times. Both an upgrade and fresh install seemed to go well. Then when rebooting it goes through the boot process and drops into a totally black screen. Can't do anything then, so have to reboot.

Tried to run in safe mode and went to KFdrake to check the display settings, all seem OK but when testing settings, goes to the black screen again, unable to do anything so reboot again.

System details
Athlon 2000
Matsonic MS8308 motherboard
SIS 630 Graphics
512 RAM

I've tried to search the forum but couldnt find an answer.

I had some of the same problems when I installed 2007. Make sure you pick the lowest video resolution during the install and try that. If you get an active display, then go to the Mandriva Control Center and try different desplay settings from there until you get one that works to your satifaction.

See my other post I think this is engineered
The X window is not opening and I hav'nt found a way round this yet so I went to Mepis 6.(I'm still looking at it though)

There is no command sreeen and ,Cntrl,Alt.Backspace doesn't appear to work

To help when in Black screen hit Ctrl,Alt, Delete and wait . You will see numlock light flash and then all three leds flash on keyboard then machine will reboot. Cattch it there and switch off

If you just switch off, it forces a check of the hard drive with the next boot and that takes forever.

I've got very similar problem. I managed to install Mandriva Spring on my computer (Athlon XP 3200+, Radeon X800Pro,ASUS A7V880 mobo, Maxtor ATA-133) without problems. But when I tried to boot for the first time, nothing would happen just after I chose the boot mode (normal). Then I added some options to kernel boot parameter

Code:

noapic nolapic acpi=off
and that helped a bit, but now booting process stops just before displaying KDE login menu. The screen turns black, but remains on, and nothing would happen.

Any suggestions?
