Best Mandrake for Athlon64?

Hi All,

I have an Athlon64 laptop, and I want to find the appropriate Mandrake distro to run on it.
I would like to take advantage of the 64-bitness whereever possible, but I have heard some people complaining of application compatibility problems. Also, I notice that while there does seem to be a 64-bit version of Mandrake, it ends with 10, and I can find no mention of further development on the Mandrake Club site. This is unfortunate, as 10.1 seems to do a much better job of setting up my laptop.

Also, on an odd note, when I upgraded from 10.1 b2 to rc1, it installed an SMP kernel. This does not seem proper (not that I wouldn't love a dual-processor laptop ;) ).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Alec

Well, i'd suggest to take 10_AMD64 (I'm running it myself :+ ), or to wait and look whether a 10.1_64 version will be released (and then install that version).

I had to reinstall my system after running URPMI using 32bits mirrors, bacause a lot of tools stopped working. So ONLY use 64bits mirrors!
