Backup In DVDs

I have a dual boot system.... xp and mdk 10.1 is there a way that i can backup the linux system so that i dont have to install it every time i try something and goes wrong?
I found 3 programs for that use ...but i dont know how to use them.... (dar,partimage,mondorescue) isnt anything like norton ghost in linux?
