AWK Fatal Error
Hey Fellow linux users, i am new to this forum, and preaty much new to linux it self, i have installed Linux Mandrake 9.1 it was working perfectly until last night, after i restarted i encountered some big mess ups, in terminal, it displays tainted@(none) while it should be tainted@localhost, my sound is dead, and so are some other things, i also get an error when i open Konsole, awk: cmd. line:2: fatal: cannot open file `^' for reading (No such file or directory) i looked through the bootlog, and i noticed that "AWK" is producing a ton of fatal errors, AWK does exist, it gives me an output, here is a copy of 1 of the errors from the bootlog
Sep 22 21:22:45 (none) sound: awk: Sep 22 21:22:45 (none) sound: cmd. line:2: fatal: cannot open file `^O\205^^D' for reading (No such file or directory) Sep 22 21:22:45 (none) sound: awk: cmd. line:2: (FILENAME=/etc/modules.conf FNR=1) fatal error: internal error Sep 22 21:22:45 (none) sound: awk: cmd. line:2: fatal: cannot open file `^O\205^^D' for reading (No such file or directory) Sep 22 21:22:45 (none) sound: /etc/rc5.d/S18sound: line 89: 813 Aborted egrep -q '(sparcaudio|sound)' /proc/devices 2>/dev/null if any 1 has a fix, please either reply here, or, which would be even better, please send an email or AIM me @ SpaceHunter0317 Thanks |
