I have never used licq or gaim, but if you can post here, amsn should work.
If you are behind a proxy, you might try (in amsn) going to Preferences - > Connection and try enabling "Connect using HTTP method"
By default, Gaim (which is included in Mdk 9.2) or AMSN (which you obviously downloaded and installed) should work without setting anything particular in your Mandrake Linux (of course besides having the network working and taking care of proxies...).
For GAIM, you have to download the latest version 0.75 if you want it to work with MSN. For AMSN, I assume that you have version 0.83 or higher. In any case, they should at least execute and their main window should be displaying.
I am not sure since I never checked this because everything worked fine from the start. Sorry!
As mentionned in a previous reply, GAIM works right away "out from the box" on Mandrake Linux 9.2 (except for MSN for which you just need to install version 0.70 and above because Microsoft changed something about the MSN protocol). With AMSN, the program updates itelf to get the updated MSN protocol.
