ads in Mandrake 9.2

I installed Mandrake 9.2 (download version). I've been very happy with it, but there are ads in Mozilla and Konqueror. The Mozilla ads were easy enough to get rid of, but the Konqueror ads (browser links) are more difficult. Someone else started a thread about the same thing a while ago, but no one seemed to have an answer.

A couple of things I'd like to add to the previously mentioned thread:

- I can delete all the links/ads in Konqueror except one with no problem. If I delete all of them, they all come back the next time I reboot.

- Someone said in the previously mentioned thread that it might be "updating" from the Internet. I don't know if they're related, but when I try to browse my files in Konqueror and my broadband Internet connection is down (which is often with my crappy ISP, unfortunately), Konq. moves very, very, very slowly. Like 2 minutes to open a folder slow. Is this because it is trying to "update" and can't?

- Related to the second point, is Mandrake bundled with spyware and is that why it's moving so slow when the Internet is down? Is there anyway to know?

I really like this distribution, but I couldn't forgive spyware and the ads bug me. Does anyone know if the version you buy (e.g. the "Discovery Edition") has the same problem? I was planning on buying the next version that comes out anyway...

If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it.
