I was the owner of a Mandriva Powerpack 2006, but, for money reasons, upgraded to a "simple" 2007 KDE One.
And I lost a feature I cherished : chosing the OS to boot with the next reboot.
Allow me to detail this, and keep in mind my OS is in French, so I'm freely translating, that might not be exactly the same text for english versions :
Using Mandriva 2006, I could right click on the desktop, chose "log out", and "Reboot" was one of the options. There was a sort of vertical arrow on the right edge of the "Reboot" button, and if I clicked that arrow that would show a list of the bootable OSes listed in my Lilo : Mandriva, mandriva failsable, vmlinuz (never knew what that was), and WindowsXP.
Now, using Mandriva 2007 One KDE, that arrow has disappeared, and I cannot chose anymore what OS to boot, I have to wait for the reboot to proceed and carefully watch when it's time to chose with Lilo... It's a bother.
Would you know how to add back that feature, perhaps ?
Thanks a lot if you can help me
Perhaps that's linked to the dm, whatever dm means ?
I remember I tried gdm, kdm and mdk-dm, and only one of them allowed that choice (with also the possibility to start a new session without logging of the current one). I kept that dm when I understood the choices were allowed by chosing him... But I didn't remember which dm it was ! ^^;;
For me too the buttons have disappeared after upgrading from 2006 to 2007. It seems it is related to the 3d desktop. When you log out the option are avaible again in the KDM/GDM (or wathever I have now) but it is less convinient. Does autologin work for you?
Autologin works, yeah. But I have disabled the 3D desktop long since, and yet I don't have the OS choice for reboot, so that musn't be related to 3D Desktop :-/
Distribution: Mandriva mostly, vector 5.1, tried many.Suse gone from HD because bad Novell/Zinblows agreement

Rep:
sabinou cannot explain, when using compiz in mdv2007 the reboot menu gives OS choices
(my /home is used by both 2005LE and 2007 alternatively as I am still migratting)
I'm going to ask this from mandrivaclub forums, since there are some Mandriva insiders there, there is a slight chance a reply will be made Here is the link to that thread, I add this link so that, if a reply is made and I forget to tell here, the information won't be lost !
