Active Directory authentication?
I'm trying to setup Mandrake 10.1 to authenticate through Active Directory. I ran drakauth, but the last option is missing 'Active Directory using Winbind'. Do I need to install additional rpm's to get this choice? Is there an easier way to get this working?
My goal is to setup a Linux box next to a Windows box for comparison testing so I need both to authenticate to Active Directory and print to Windows 2000 server print queues. Carlton. |
urpmi samba winbind
There is a seperate RPM under 10.1 that deals with winbind. You need to install then configure both samba and winbind as required. |
I have winbind and samba installed and running. When I boot the PC it prompts me with all the usernames from my Windows 2000 Active Directory. After I login I can run:
net RPC TESTJOIN (works fine) net ADS TESTJOIN (failed: Malformed representation of principal) What am I missing now? |
I haven't tried joining Samba to an AC domain of yet.
You may want to check out the Samba website for more info. |
