A easyurpmi site alternative

It seems the PLF easyurpmi site is having issues.

They are down more then up.
However there is a site that isn't run or hosted by PLF or zarb.org. And its more stable site.

I wont let such a valuable Mandrake tool die.

Please bookmark the site and pass it along to other Mandrake users on other forums.

Good idea to ask for making that post sticky. easyurpmi access is so.... random.

It is easy to become a mirror for easyurpmi.

Another good mirror that is hardly ever down is the Mandrake Users Board. (And this is a *true* mirror of the original easyurpmi.

So did I until I did this.

But to clairify I do not get any help from PLF. I maintain and add any new mirror's I find. When Mandrake releases a new arch build they normally don't even announce it. So it can be a bear to keep it current.

Hmm I don't think this thread is sticky so I hope they do it soon.

Except that it isn't down, and hasn't been for a while.

Trem (who runs the eaasyurpmi.zarb site) has his hardware problems resolved now, I understand.

Wasnt hardware -- it was bad migration to there new box and it ate everything up and locked the box.

If its backup I wouldnt count on it being up 100% because the last email I got from them is the issue is not fixed yet.

Oh and the Scott thats mentioned in the MOTD is me. So I mirror it. I should know whats going on.

What would be nice is if all the urpmi setup sites would also allow non-mandrake/plf to be listed so long as the rpm repositories followed mandrakes policy.

Seems no one will do that other then me. I see no reason to let plf and mandrake be the only ones listed when there or other repositories that users can use.

The main reason is because Mandrake is usually so far behind in versions and I am sure there are other diehard mandrake users that want up2date software that make there own rpm's now.

A good example is kde3.3 which was released a couple months ago. Now why cant mandrake update for the new kde? I see no reason other then lack of drive to keep its users current. But I have noticed the minute someone makes a current version they have been found guilty of breaking mandrakes build policy which usually isnt correct and they refuse to acknowledge them.

Just be nice to see other repositories given there due share in the mandrake community.

Urpmi is already installed (it's installed by default), it may just need reconfiguring.
