9.1 install - not asking for other disks.

Not really a problem, more of a "Why?".

I've picked up an old (400mhz / 64mb) Dell to turn into a fileserver, but when I go to install, it never asks me if I have disk 2 or 3, which is the norm.

I can still get the packages I want once a basic system is loaded, but I'd prefer to know why it's happening.

Any ideas? (disks not scratched)

Cheers

9.1 needs about 72 megs of RAM for graphical install If insufficient ram, eg 64 it still lets you install cd1 as you found out.

its a sign its getting bigger.

Then just use mcc to install new software.

I have installed RH - 3 CD set - on a Presario 1200XL-109 GUI style with only 64Mb so I must beg to differ on the 64Mb+ thing you mention... I therefore dare to postulate that the snag is of an entirely different nature... which it might be I will however decline to comment on...

I don't even have a CD set, I got the whole setup as a bootable DVD from the cover of a magazine The other side has tonnes of extra programs, non of which I have found usefull.

Nimoy:

Remember that RH is not Mandrake.

It is ENTIRELY possible for 2 distro installers to have different requirements. So it IS possible for you to install RH GUI style on your 64Megs of RAM while not being able install Mandrake on that same machine.
