2005LE: No text mode console at Ctrl+Alt+F2
 

I have a problem with Mandriva 2005 LE. When I switch to text mode console with Ctrl+Alt+F2 I don't get any login prompt. There is just _ blinking in the upper left corner of the screen and all else is black and blank. Just the same as on console at Ctrl+Alt+F8 which is ready for another X session.

I checked /etc/inittab and I could find these lines there:
# Run gettys in standard runlevels
1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty1
2:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty2
3:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty3
4:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty4
5:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty5
6:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty6

Which looks Ok to me.

But if I do "ps -e " as root I can't see any runing mingetty processes.

What could be wrong? How do I get back text mode console? Thanks in advance for help!
