2 sound cards, how to choose the good one?

Hi,

I have 2 sound card on my computer running mandriva 2006 : one VIA on the mother board and a SB live sound card.

I can listen to music with the integrated VIA but nothing with the SB. I could do it in older mandriva. I look for where to change the sound card I want to use. Modules snd-emu10k1 are loaded and I can see all parameters in kmixer.

I check in players config and in kmixer but didn't find anything. When I cut off all sound on the VIA the icon
on the desktop indicate mute even if sound are not mute for SB.

So where can I set the sound card I want to use?

I am not too sure if this will help or not, but it won't hurt. I also have the onboard VIA sound with a SoundBLASTER Live card as well. I am running Mandrake10.1 and it picked up my card. My question is do you have the onboard sound set properly in your BIOS? It should be disabled and not enabled. Check to see if your on-board sound is disabled. If it is enabled, then disable it and see if that allows for the SB card to function properly.

Thank you for your answer but it doesn't help.

First I am aware about this.
Secondly it worked fine few days ago when I had mandiva 2005 or 10.2 and the 10.1 . I didn't change BIOS config.
Third I use the SB with windows.

I will check to be sure but it worked before and it works with windows. I don't thing it comes from there but we never know. Sometimes weird thing happens. I used to disable the VIA but today no.

Since my last post, I find a place to config KDE sound system but nothing to select the card I want.

Thank you again.
