2 probs in 9.1
Screwing around in KDE I decided to see how well its lilo manager was since mandrakes console forces you to use the boot splash screen. I'd much prefer the old text based console booting. Anyway, I seem to have screwed something up when I changed the deafult graphic/text mode to 80x25. Unfortunately changing it back to default does not fix the problem. When it boots it still uses the mandrake splash screen only now when its done, instead of blanking the scrren to anice black console, it does not go away. My text mode operations are done in that stupid little center window with the mandrake graphic sitting high above it with that awful color scheme. I know I can manually edit a file somehwere to undo this, but does anyone know which one and which setting I am looking for?
I have been using KDE and gnome on and off. The first time I ran Gnome my mouse worked correctly, scrolling with the wheel in my broser, after running KDE it stopped and now selects text on various parts of the page. I was gonna just assume its a bug, but now its just annoying, I find myself rebooting into XP just to browse online because of it. Any idea here?

I had the same problem with the splash screen. This fixed it for me.
As for the mouse, maybe have a look in KDE Control Center - LookNFeel - Behavior or - Window Behavior

Thanks but I am already booting to run level 3, its not the X graphics that are my problem. ITs the stupid Mandrake boot screen, where it loads the OS and constantly says OK {except for a different issue I hace to look into eventyally involving a lm_validate_partition_table() Disk Read Failed error.
In the mouse I got a little further, I opened a file in Kedet and noticed it now scrolls horizontal instead of verticle in that. I feel about my 50th linux reinstall coming on.

First problem solved, I could not figure out how to edit the config files correctly but I managed to gather aenough bits and pieces of info to determine initrc somehow calls a mdkinitrc which loads that stupid splash screen this meand this is an additional package doing this and not one necessary to start linux, so I went searchign for splash screen iunder description in drakrpm and lo and behold, target acquired, once destroyed I get the old fashioned plain console linux boot. and my login screen looks exactly like its supposed to. Who'd of ever though you would appreciate 80x25 text. I sure do after looking at what was about 30x45 text square on PART of the monitor.
Now for that damn mouse.
