I also have this problem, with all browsers, and I have tried those 2 lines at the end of the /etc/modprobe.conf file. My system is Fedora Core 5, running Gnome window manager. The machine and dsl are fast. One thing I have not tried is rebooting. Is there a way to make the new version of modprobe.conf that shuts off the ipv6 search (alias ipv6 off alias net-pf-10 off) functional without shutting down and restarting linux?
