Hi John VV,
I went to your links an they were not helpful I am sorry to say. I have uninstalled VLC and am going to reinstall it from the VideoLan website. It would be a lot better if using vlc was not such a hassle. It was the same way in Ubuntu. I get a message cannot open or can not play input. It si so blasted maddening. I tried; http://linuxg.net/how-to-install-vlc...-and-mandriva/ and this is waht I got: urpmi libdvdplay0 wxvlc vlc-plugin-a52 vlc-plugin-ogg vlc-plugin-mad libmatroska0 libdvdcss2 No package named libdvdplay0 No package named libmatroska0 [root@localhost bill48]# I tried to use the other link woith no success. I might get over it if the Video Player "Dragon Player" worked any better then VLC. |
click "install" on the Mageia App Db
-- 32 bit os http://mageia.madb.org/package/show/name/vlc it is basically a "one click install" like opensuse has or if you are on a 64 bit machine and OS http://mageia.madb.org/package/show/...lc/arch/x86_64 |
Hey John VV;
Would like to report success with the VLC. The libdvdplay0 wxvlc vlc-plugin-a52 vlc-plugin-ogg vlc-plugin-mad libmatroska0 libdvdcss2 which said there wwre no such packages, well got the 'bright' idea and opened the MCC then the 'Install and Remove Software' I pasted libdvdplay0 wxvlc vlc-plugin-a52 vlc-plugin-ogg vlc-plugin-mad libmatroska0 libdvdcss2 and tapped search. Got something, hit apply. Oh yes, before that idea came to me I installed 'urpmi libdvdcss2' Not expected much, if anything, I plopped a DVD "Island in the Sky", selected VLC when the choice was offered and it plays. Not sure if it was one thing or both but at the moment it's working. It turned out you had the right idea, it was just those vlc plugins an the like had to be added through the 'Install and Remove Software' Thingamajig. Woudl be a whole lot less stressful if programs such as VLC could come fully packaged without the need to hunt around for what should already be there. herakles_14 |
vlc CAN NOT be
nor can any program that uses mpeg , avi,rm,or mp3 music nor using libdvdcss these are ALL illegal to redistribute with out paying a very LARGE patent and copyright fee almost ALL multi media software is SO patent and copyright encumbered that it is ILLEGAL to include the software take this issue up WITH YOUR OWN GOVERNMENT they are the ones responsible for this horrible state in software in your country . |
