KDE4 Panel problem
Every other copy of the KDE4 I have used, clicking on a panel icon allowed starting a second (or more) copy of a running program. Mageia's KDE4 does not allow this.
How do I get it back? Using the main menu allows duplicates, so it must be a panel function? Thanks Jim |
You're gunna have to provide more info here, but of coarse you can. You may wanna look at the task-manager settings too.
If you really like taskbars, have you ever thought of adding something like Cairo/GLX Dock. I've been using it w/KDE 4ever. I currently use Cairo-Dock 3.1.2-2 w/KDE 4.10.0-1 in Mageia Cauldron X86_64. TBH, I couldn't imagine KDE w/o it. I created a custom glx dock I keep at the top of my screen to compliment my heavily modified plasma panel at the bottom. |
Icons in the current panel may have little white triangles above and below.
The one above appears to indicate the active program while the one below indicates the program is running but not selected. A double triangle below indicates more than one copy running. Clicking on an icon will start the associated program if not running, select it if running and not selected, or minimise it if selected. I do not like the triangles. I will check out Cairo-Dock. |
Hey CollieJim, how are you liking Cairo/GLX Dock?

I had a look, but it's not what I want, which is the KDE panel as it was in 3.5.

AFAIK Mageia by default uses 'Icon-Only Task Manager'; just unlock your KDE widgets, remove it and put ordinary 'Task manager' widget in its place.

some programs also will not run two or more instances
like you can not run two instances of firefox as the same user or the same profile |
