Add a delete feature, and I wouldn't be requesting/stating/asking.
I think deleting unneeded threads I create is a way of keeping an honest post count.

Since you seem to enjoy deleting your posts once you have the answer it seems you really don't understand the way forums work. This is a help site where the questions and answers are kept available. People can then enter a term in a search engine and find the answer by browsing to this site. Every time you remove your original post you prevent some poor person from fixing their own problem.

We have a way of marking a thread as "done" - you mark it as solved in the handy drop down. Alternatively, since you seem to treat this as your personal help desk, you could pay a fee every time you post here. At that point you can remove your posts to your heart's content since you will be supporting the site financially.

Just stop deleting your posts and you'll stop getting infractions and hassle.

Whenever I find that I've posted something that I've noticed has been answered on the forum, then I kindly ask for deletion of the thread. If you follow some of my many previous threads, then you'll notice that I often provide the solution for the problem that existed for me.

By the way, stop double posting.

I'll bet you a cookie that you lack understanding of commas. Furthermore, the mod has been wrong about how my posts have been. If you want to engage in argumentation, I must warn you that I'm unethical, mean, and determined.

Anyway, the mod is also an idiot, because this is a forum. There are no "forums." They are called "boards." Shall I further my argument? Shall I destroy credibility? Argumentation is a skill. Would you like to see how skilled you are?

I don't feel like bickering. I figured I would simply state that the infraction was unnecessary. Furthermore, both mods were ignorant to think I was aware of the solved-thread feature. A warning would have been more necessary.

The aim of LQ is to provide the most help to the most people (probably not grammatically correct, but there you go). So if you Google for "Java lib not found" odds are you will be directed here and you can read a post wherein a member has that problem and is then given a solution.

In your worldview, once you get the solution you delete the problem description. This means that other people with that problem would have to search for the solution terms in order to see if their problem matches the original and then read the solution. And that doesn't work, because if they knew the solution they wouldn't need to search for it, would they?

By taking the actions you have taken, you just make it so that people here have no motivation to help you.

I was wondering if something like this could be prevented with a delete limit on the first post? ie, not able to delete more than 5 characters from a post IF and ONLY IF that post is the first post in the thread.

honest post count? That's a good attitude, humble. I like. However, I suggest you try and get over this, because it really does help other people to leave the OP post intact. Post count really is one of those fun little statistics, like how long the average person spends on the telephone during their life, but doesn't really mean anything or have much importance. It's fun to have around though so I'm not suggesting we lose it.

We have no plans to allow post or thread deletion at this time. LQ is meant to be an archive of knowledge, and allowing members to delete content at a whim goes against that (and would be abused, even if accidentally). You do have the full ability to edit any content you've created and in extreme circumstances can us the Report functionality if you think something really needs to be deleted.
