http://www.ubuntulinux.org/ubuntu/Tr...earchterm=logo

"Before using the Ubuntu name, device or logo outside the scope of fair use (such as using these in a review to refer to the product), please send an email to trademarks@ubuntulinux.org with your name, contact details, and a short explanation of your proposed usage of the trademarks. We will answer these mails as quickly as we can, so you can spread the love!
As long as you follow the Logo Standards listed below, you do not need to contact us if:

* You want to use the logo in a desktop background. Go right ahead! You can even share your work by listing it on our artwork page.
* You want to link to our website from your site. Buttons can be found here.

If you have any questions at all about your proposed use, please contact us. ..."

But, I didn't see a logo (yet) on their site that can be downloaded or saved.

THIS IS THE THING. IF YOU LOOK AT THE 'SPONSORED FEDORA FORUM" YOU WILL SEE THEIR LOGO. WHICH MEANS 'THEY", FEDORA, RED HAT, SUPPLIED THE LOGO. COPYRIGHT AND TRADEMARK ARE IRRELEVANT. THE UBUNTU FORUM IS SPONSORED BY UBUNTU LIKE RED HAT SPONSORED THE FEDORA FORUM HERE.

Before using... blah, blah, blah... LQ isn't doing anything, ubuntu is!

Please send OUR name? It's not us, it's ubuntu! They are looking lame sponsoring a forum here and supplying no logo as if they don't have the moxie to do so or the money to post it somewhere else.... blah, blah, blah. Thanks for the link but you didn't read what I posted. It's nOt up to LQ to make it happen. It's up to ubuntu.

If it makes you feel any better, only Fedora has a logo and text. And this is moved to Website Suggestions and Feedback as it really is a question/request about LQ.

No it's not. Since ubuntu is the sponsor of the other forum, it's a question directed at them, not LQ, because LQ can't do anything about it.

EDIT: oops, nevermind. I see...... I should be happy and I am.... because... at least my thread didn't get deleted like it did at FedoraForum.org.

It wasn't about ubuntu before some wise guy says something like that.

The difference is that Fedora (and Slackware) sponsor the forums. The other distributions have official forums recognised by the distributions but do not financially sponsor them.

If a distribution or company would like to sponsor a forum I'm sure jeremy would welcome the support. You can do so by using the contact form:

Thanks for that, david_ross. I didn't realise that was the reason.

If anyone, by the way, would like any other distro to join LQ (or would like an existing distro to change the way they operate on LQ) please feel free to politely email them with your request.
