first of all, i am very new to this site and to linux. i have been installing linux on some 'older' computers and performance is often an issue. i looked for forum topics like "performance", "tweaking", but didn't find any. maybe, if there is enough interest, there could be such a forum in the future. just a suggestion. thanks for reading.

Personally I would think that a wiki article on tweaking and performance would be more useful. This would let people keep updating it in a structured form:
