VMplayer Section
 

Is there a way LQ can add a VMplayer Section? Possible threads could include: Linux on Windows, WIndows on Linux, BSD on Linux, Bsd on Windows, VM Workstation, VM Server, etc.

I am most interested in Linux on Windows as well as Windows on Linux ( after I get familiar with the VMPlayer I may be switching to Windows on Linux.)

At the moment, I don't think there is sufficient traffic to warrant a VMPlayer section. I just did a search for "vmplayer" and found 14 threads - one of which was this thread. I'd suggest putting any questions in "Linux-Software".

I think the VMplayer is an excellent program. If more people that used Microsoft Products realized that here was a way to keep using all the software they have and not have to dual boot, etc, and still run Linux or BSD then more people would give Linux in general a try. And a possible outcome would be even more people getting familiar, comfortable and use to Linux .

The VMplayer, in Windows, is so easy to install that my cat could do it. I now have the cdplayer (which plays some live cd's without having to reboot,) Debian, Ubuntu and Suse. Installing all of these prebuilt distros was just as easy as installing the Vmplayer. I will be telling all the people I know that have been wanting to use Linux, but had the normal excuses, that they can now get a taste of Linux with out any sacrafice.

Just my thoughts and opinions. I will also be setting up Linux (undecided on distro) and remotley running it from my XP box.

I think it would be a good idea to promote the VMplayer as well as having a thread. It will gain in popularity, this I am sure of. But until then I will make my posts in both the software section as well as in the section of the distro I am using. Thanks for the quick reply.

Dude- search the forum for new subforum requests. Unless there is sufficient demand for a new subforum, they won't make one because it makes the mod's job so much more dificult.

Thats understandable, LQ is huge and must take a lot to keep up with it all. Fortunately there are many other places to go and I am a part of them as well. I was just making some observations, suggestions and points, not any kind of demands or criticism.

These type of questions would be perfectly suited for the Linux - Software forum I think. If demand changes in the future, we'll certainly reconsider. On that note, look for some Linux - Software expansion in the near future.
