To promote good searching:

How about introducing an x minute delay between submitting a new question and it actually being posted, where x is maybe between 5 and 15?
This would help reduce the number of URGENT!!!!!! messages, as well as encourage people to google for a result as they're much more likely to get one than if they wait for their post to show.
Also it might give mods a chance to stop double+ posts if there's a seperate private listing of pending threads.
I dunno if the poster should still be able to access the question to edit spellings, or maybe just be forced to review it once while confirming submission.

Just a suggestion :)

There is already the "Search" button next to each Thread Title which encourages a search on the site before posting, I don't know if implementing something like the above would be such a great idea for things other than double posts. After all, if the question is iminently going through, then delaying is only doing just that, delaying it. If the question is something 'searchable' then it will still go through, and then simply be followed by the link if that's how one replies to questions.

I personally don't think it would be anything more than a nuisance to most posters.

Cool

I think something like this would only frustrate a user when posting a question. I would hate to think I come for a forum for help, have a legitimate question and then after posting it, it won't show up for another 5 to 15 minutes.... Most here can get a response in a matter of minutes in some cases in which I think most members enjoy. Its faster than some actual support from Distributions and so on....

Ok, yeah, I would make us less attractive compared to other forums. Just a suggestion though :)

Another one: Could the forum search for threads with exactly the same title and/or contents which were posted by a user in say the last hour? This might be a good way of stopping double posts.
