But somewhere in the forum, somebody told the level of advertising was variable and, overall, tended to diminish as one posts. If somebody asks "what advertising?" I'll give him the exact location within the page. In the page right column there is the Main Menu and My LQ. Well then, right between these, also on the right column.
And I don't refer merely to static pictures. The really annoying advertising is the moving one. Was that person speaking about what he did not know? Regards.

You definitively get less ads (by number of ad slots per page) the more you post. At the number of posts you have, you should see very few ads per page, and soon nearly none.

Out of curiosity, why were you under the impression that "The more I post, the more advertising I get"? Are you seeing a higher number of ads per page than you used to?
If I relay on my memory, since I registered the level never decreased. But I do not need recurring to memory. The very fact that I made up my mind to wrote post #1 is telling me some part of my mind is noticing an increase in ads.
I got used to static ads, but, currently, all ads are moving. Sometimes it takes a nap and remains motionless. But at times the right column, just below the principal menu (Main Menu), seems to go crazy.
I know it's in the interest of LQ to know about me in this respect and I thank you for that.
Oh, yes. The number of ads per page seems to have remained constant since I registered in LQ.

We have not increased the number of ads in any way in years. And you are correct that you do not need to rely on your memory - simply log out or open LQ in a different browser and compare it to the browser window that you're logged in as stf92 in.
Given jeremy's own words, I do not need to contribute if all I want is to get rid of ads.
True, but I contribute because I think Jeremy provides a valuable service. (In fact, for a long time I didn't even realize that LQ had advertising, since I always use adblock (or it's equivalent) on Firefox, Konqueror,or Google Chrome.)
I always use adblock (or it's equivalent) on Firefox, Konqueror,or Google Chrome.
That's actually what I was going to suggest, but I didn't know what browser the OP was using, nor did I know that Konqueror and Chrome(ium) provide ad-blocking extensions...shows how much I know.
