The LQ Wiki hit 2,000 Articles
I am happy to report that the LQ Wiki just hit 2,000 articles. It's a nice start, but with the lofty goal of becoming the largest general-knowledge Linux repository on the web, we have a long way to go
it's striking that there are over a million posts in the forums, in which there may be many articles, hidden so to speak, or unstructured. Have you looked at any text mining tools to extract them?
OK, there maybe some cynicism about text mining (being the latest corporate craze), but a body of knowledge is emerging around it. If such extraction were possible, the wiki might be able to grow faster.
I did have a look at what I could do, but being still a newbie, there's onlyh a limited amount fo things I could write with authority ..., while I continue searching, I want to attract your attention to this Infoworld article, which deals with text mining, specifically in user forums.
Now if you follow the link to the solution supplier, Attensity, you'll see itīs a company with large corporate clients, so no prizes for how expensive the solutions are going to be.
The questions is, is there an opensource solution for this? Does anybody know of any projects kind of related to this ?
