Suggestion(s)

1) How about a 'Resolved' button near the post one?

It can be enabled to the thread owner to clarify that his/her thread has been resolved, which will help many users while searching for a solution (BEFORE posting their problem ofcourse!)

2) Random quote? sure I spend hours typing 'fortune' in my shell. I can stay still just reading those for hours and hours!!! so why not put them somewhere in the pages so people would read them while 'waiting for an answer' ... They'd feel like they're in a waiting room or something ;p

A problem arises is bandwidth :: If people forget they have the same 'fortune' game in their Linux box and start hammering that poor refresh button (or command -> Lynx) o_0;

I'll post more ideas when they ripe ^_^

This has been discussed. Look here for details.

Exactly. Bandwidth is an issue, and I don't think this would be very condusive to the site. A "tips-n-tricks" type interface is under discussion here but I think that's about as far as what you're suggesting will go.

I think the point that people ask questions like this imply that it is not worth having.....

Just try to search first though, someone else could have thought about it and discussed it long ago before you came along.
