Suggestion: regroup the Android forum back into LQ?

I am on both LQ and Androidquestions. The latter is pretty dead unfortunately. I am subscribed to other Android forums that have been around for very long time and have lots of useful features.

My suggestion for Jeremy is: why not have AQ as a subforum in LQ? It would make sense to be able to read posts on both sites. Moreover LQ could drive more users into AQ.

I would like to know Jeremy's and other users' feedback on this. Thanks

Amen to that.

Androidquestions is below the critical mass to work. Questions don't get answered, mods are scarce. It should be grown a little before being stood off on it's own.

Thanks for the feedback. We have no plans to roll AQ back into LQ. While I agree that AQ is nowhere near as busy as LQ, keep in mind that it's actually much busier than LQ was at a similar point in its development. That said, if you have any ideas on how participation at AQ can be increased, we're certainly willing to listen. Also, keep in mind that the eventual goal of The Questions Network is to provide a network of sites that share a single login, technical platform and community ethos.

I think you'll find LQ/mobile is busier than AQ. Maybe mirror/redirect?
Also, there's too many AQ sub-forums imho.

The reasons LQ works for me are
1. You can learn from it.
2. You get your questions answered
3. You can google LQ. I never mastered the search - I always get nothing.

The order may differ for others. On AQ, none of 1-3 hold true often enough. You have tough competition.

IMHO AQ cannot compete with other established Android forums (XDAdevelopers and Android Phorums, just to name few). Some devices have their own forums, and they're good.

AQ should be rolled back or mirrored into LQ to take advantage of the synergy between Linux and Android.

Moreover I'd like to see AQ geared more towards hacking the Android device to run some sort of Linux. This could attract more developers in.

Our goal isn't actually to compete with those forums per se (which are indeed quite good). The goal is to expand the the technical platform and community ethos from LQ to other topics where it makes sense. I believe the android ecosystem is certainly large enough to sustain us all.

That's the point of having a single sign on across all TQN sites.

We're certainly open to that, and it's certainly possible as the site exists now.
