Suggestion for a "user-programmer" forum.

Hi, I am a structural engineer, who, since the '70s has had to write custom computer programs for use in my work.

In general a "user" written program will have a different structure (look and feel) than a program written for a multiplicities of users.

I think a forum for people who write programs from a "User" perspective would be a great addition to LQ.

erm, that's amazingly specific... can't see how it would help anyone trying to impose such an arbitrary division on programming, which is in itself a relatively quiet section of loq.org.

You must have missunderstood my suggestion. I did not intend to impose anything on anybody. Maybe its a quite section because there is no such forum.

I know such a forum would be helpful to me.

There are many different forums on LQ looking at different aspects of Linux. My understanding was THIS forum was for suggestions, which is what I made. If there is no interest there will be no replies.

I don't appreciate being "put down" by a moderator no less.

Thanks for your reply, at least I got one.

impeteperry,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure that Chris was not trying to put you down in any way. I don't think there is significant demand for something like this at LQ,, in addition to the fact that it's not really Linux or Open Source specific. We have fairly specific thresholds for adding new forums here.

surely such user programmer questions can go in "programming"? http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...isplay.php?f=9
