suggestion

just a little suggestion or two

1. a logout on every page rather than having to go back to forum main menu

2. a clock to let you know the forum time as we are all under different time zones

1) look at the right hand column, there's already a logout button (no matter what page you're on).

2) usually at the bottom of a thread and at the bottom of the forums it says the time.

Thanks
my eyesight isn't what it used to be
saving up for glasses
maybe I should clarify my suggestion
a separate logout box and a separate clock icon
about the same size as the boxes you click on to
post threads and replies

Logout button

Hi,

maybe I need better glasses, but:

I don't see ANY logout button, menue item or similar.
I saw only a login menue item at the right hand side, in the Main Menue.
And that (possibly) only if I am not logged in.
(E.g. there is none whereas posting a message, or none on every page.)

Do I oversee something ?

Thanks,

Tajci

It is in the My LQ section in the right column and will only show up when you are logged in. If you are logged out then it will show a login link.

Oh, I see, but I had to scroll down and really search for it.

A suggestion:
-----------------
Couldn't it be placed as an extra "logout" button somewhere more near the top of the page and more left.
Somewhere between the "Home Forums HCL ..." section and the next section ("Post Reply", "Cathegories" or whatever one does).

The same applies to a extra "login" button.

Think of poor users who do not use a full page browser mode or have small monitors !

What about that suggestion ?

Thanks,

Tajci

wow its been a while since I started this post
however seeing all the similar threads about this
I wonder if it is a issue that needs to be addressed

so my suggestion is this
On my screen all the colours are various shades of blue and grey
looks nice but can be a bit of a strain on the eyes
so how about a different colour scheme around the "user cp" area
I dont think we need flashing neon lights here
but a distinctive yellow or something
User CP could be renamed "User Settings"
I think another part of the problem is that many people would stll use
800 x 600 settings on their monitor
which forces the "My LQ" at the side of the page off the screen
which is possibly why so many newbies, including myself
ask this question again and again
suggestion - could this - My LQ - be moved to a different part of the web page
along with the main menu box
suggestion - next to the box " Forum Sponsor : Linuxquestions.org
or where the top banner ad goes in a thread
and place all the ads down the RHS

oh and increase the font size for "Search" LOL

hope this helps

I'd say that floppy's suggestions are worth looking at- so I'm bumping this thread. (why oh why must we have meaningless whinging threads ;) )

floppywhopper:

There are two cases, why people don't see the "My LQ":

1. (as you mention) the 800 x 600 settings of the monitor
2. when the browser is not in the full screen mode.

This happens, when you have thousands of things to do in parallel, which results in having thousands of application windows open on the PC.
And it happens even with a big monitor and good resolution (of more than 800 x 600).

---------------------------

All,

What do you think about my suggestion of putting an extra login/logout toggle button somewhere near the left upper corner ?

Regards,

Tajci
