still a newbie

I'm sure to get an interesting answer to this, but --

For how long will this forum list me as a 'newbie?'

Not that I'm terribly offended or anything but I've been here at least a couple of years. Perhaps a new category could be minted: 'still ignorant?'

When I posted this I noticed that it says I've been registered since Sept 2003, but I know it's longer than that. As a matter of fact I've been registered since this forum was called something else... Senility has removed the name from my memory...

permanent newbie

Ah -- I will always be a newbie, then.

Proud 09-22-2004 08:31 AM

Dude can you not read? 3 more posts is all it'll take.

eflester 09-22-2004 12:45 PM

apparently not

Dear Mr. Proud,

Apparently not. Thank you for pointing out this deficiency. It plagues me daily.

"Dude"

Proud 09-22-2004 12:55 PM

You need to lighten up. :)

eflester 09-22-2004 12:59 PM

Sorry to have been abrasive, another of my deficiencies. The curious fact is that I seem to have had '28 posts' for well over a year. In fact all of my posts say I've had 28 posts. Now, however this comes across in writing, it is not meant to be sarcastic: I am almost certainly doing something stupid, but I don't know what it is.

eflester 09-22-2004 01:00 PM

OK now I am stumped/stupid. Now they all say 29. I've been duped again -- fooled by a computer. It happens to me every day. Why don't I learn?

jeremy 09-22-2004 01:05 PM

Posts in General do not up yout total count, while posts in any other forum do.

Unlike older forum/bulletin board systems (eg UBB), the text about your Member Title and post count is generated dynamically from your current stats, rather than saved with the post and becoming less current as time elapses. :)

eflester 09-22-2004 01:38 PM

Thank you both. I understand now, and it is painful to have exposed the mechanics of my poor thought processes to the light of day. Perhaps there should be a new category, called something like 'slow learner,' and I might be put in it.

These forums are, by the way, an incredibly useful resource. I am grateful for it, and for the attention of people like you.

still a newbie

like eflester, I enjoy the forums here...very educational...but, unlike eflester, I haven't paid any attention to the rankings till now....but, I'm happy just being a newbie :)
