Spell Checker

I just wanted to comment that the built in spell checker is the best thing since sliced bread :) I don't know when it got implemented since I have been on vacation form the site to to work schedules for a long time, but Thanks :)

Why one should not lean on spell checkers too much:

That's why I try to always proof read my posts also. My mental check list is:
  1. Spell Check
  2. Preview Post
  3. Submit

I almost wish the order of the buttons were reversed to encourage left-to-right oriented folks to use them in that order.

I wonder if the LQ server(s) can or do track what %-age of posts are spell checked before submission.

I also wish that I could delete from as well as add to my dictionary. I have asked about this before, & the answer was "no". Not sure if it's too difficult, or not important.

If I were in charge :), ' i ' would be tagged as a spelling mistake. But then, that's a pet peeve of mine.

One of the really nice thing about using Konqueror to post, is that its spell checker is working in real time to highlight errors as I type.

I agree. That's a terrible name for a variable. When you try to search for each occurrence of that variable in your program, you stop at all instances of anything that contains that letter.

In fact, I try to make sure that no variable name is found as part of any other variable name.

For example, I wouldn't have month and month_array in the same program, because when you search for each occurrence of month, you'll also find month_array. I would use single_month instead of month.

Owe. Weight. You weren't referring to programming, were you?

(ducks and runs)

heh, true, things slip by the spell check AND me sometimes, but overall it makes my posts better, and I can spend more time helping people and less time proofreading my posts :)
