Search results in RSS

I would like to be able to get search results in RSS flavor. Then I could add it to Thunderbird and whenever someone responded to one of my posts or mentioned me in a post, I would know within 24 hrs and respond. Further, if anyone talked about something I'm an expert in, I could respond within 24hrs too. Like, I could put "cc/pp" or "ATI usb tv controller" or "problem with Trickykid/XavierP".

We have something alone these lines planned for a future release (mid term time frame). The long term TODO does have full RSS support for search and other similar features on it (and has for some time), but it's realistically a ways off. Thanks for the feedback.

Why that unnecessary jibe at the moderators?

I'll let Rotwang answer for himself, but out of curiosity why did you take it as a "jibe" and not an an innocuous example (which is what I took it as). At any rate, surely Drew and Ray can defend themselves...

Sorry Jeremy. I brought it up because it stood out too much when I read the post... particularly in view of the previous statement:

Anyway, never mind.

It's quite necessary. And given my experiences with the two of them, it's also a literal example of what I'd want in an RSS feed, so I could jump in and help the victim if they abuse their power yet againagainagain...

thanks jeremy,

rw

Exactly. That is all I wished to ascertain. Thanks for you help.

I'm fascinated by this - how exactly will you help the victim? And what abuses of power?

Rotwang,
First let me say that I appreciate the feature suggestion - it was a good one. That being said, if you have a problem with what a mod has done feel free to contact me. Publicly provoking them is not something I'm willing to let happen at LQ.

Jeremy we already talked about, extensively, two years ago.

Rotwang, I apologize - LQ is a big place and a conversation two years ago may easily have slipped my mind. We fully respect your right to disagree with any policy we have. That being said, you need to both abide by the policy and respect the mods in the process (and I'd say you're on the border of disrespect).

Could you elaborate, I have no idea why I'm "on the border of disrespect" here.

No apology necessary for the forgetting,

Items such as "jump in and help the victim if they abuse their power yet againagainagain..." are to me a provocation. I'd encourage you to contact Ray offline with answers to his questions.

I don't agree at all, I'm afraid I can't comply. I was answering harishankar's question. I think they've abused their power in the past, repeatedly, and I'm going to say so. I've already had serveral offline communcations with Trickykid, with futile results, as exemplified by my sig. There is no new issue for me to bring up with him that I haven't already brought up with him privately before.

Criticism of the moderators moderation ought to be voiced publicly by the users that they moderate.

You don't have to agree, of course, and I think you'll find us more open to criticism than most. That being said, if you'd like to participate you do have to comply. We all make mistakes, how long are you going to highlight what happened in the "past"? I think you'll find looking to the future more productive.
