I tried to search for "money" today using a just titles search. Almost everything that came up did not have money in the title. I tried it twice to make sure. Maybe I am just an idiot, but I thought you might want to check it out. Thanks.

Make sure your specifying to search "entire posts" or "titles only"...etc. I get 636 replies with "entire posts" which has posts that include the word in the threads and I get 23 posts returned with the word "money in the title" if I search "titles only"..

I don't think it searches the thread title. It seems to search all post titles. So while a thread title might not contain "money" once of the post titles within the thread will.

Under Search Options, select to search by titles only, if you don't want it to search entire posts...

I think he gets that but if you search for money then the first thread that comes up is called "Y use Linux instead of windows ??"

It is only because one post somewhere in the thread contains money in its title that it is returned at all.

Yes, I did read your post. What I was trying to say, was that even when I clicked "search by titles only", the search results contained threads that do not have "money" in their titles. Hence, my thought there might be something wrong with the search.

However, what david_ross said, was that even though you might not see money in the search results thread title, one of the post's titles might have money in it, therefore including that whole post in the search results.

I also realize that I could list results by post, however I did not want to do that. David_ross answered the question I had. Thanks for your input as well.

Yes, it searches all titles, not just the thread starter's title. I just didn't ellaborate my first response myself.. when I said "titles only", I meant all titles..
