Redirecting vs being general
Ten characters for the minimum edit and the sad realization is yours. I don't care.
Please do. |
Directions a/k/a FAQ are in the Site FAQ at:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/faq.php Which is a link you should see at the right side of the page. |
Threads about Windows (and Cygwin is a Windows thing) reside in General. No conspiracy, we just like to have threads reside in the best forum for the subject.
What exactly did you find difficult about making your first post. We have, so far, not had many complaints that it's too difficult to make a post, so what was it about your experience that made it difficult? And as far as replying goes, you have asked a question in an open, public forum. You have to expect responses, though we are unlikely to directly email you the responses. |
What did I just say?
Didn't he tell you the bird bit him?
|
Well, how about common courtesy? To me it seems somewhat rude, daft
and obnoxious to begin with biting the hand that you expect to feed you (and that's for free). Cheers, Tink |
A gentle suggestion: Try using paragraphs to make your prose more readable. You could even edit your posts above to do this. Then I might read them in full.
Please remember, your answers here come from volunteers, perhaps out of their limited spare time -- if your post is too difficult to read or understand, the easy thing is to close the page & go on to 1 that is more fun. Another suggestion: in addition to spell checking, always preview your post before actually submitting it. Try to consider how it will look to others & will it motivate them to help you. |
ah- link thing? ??

I wnated to post it to general for the reason you said but then read the title of general: Quote:
Still no answer for my question tho' :( Its in "other *nix". |
We have been putting Cygwin threads in General because Cygwin is a Windows only "distro".
|
maybe, it could be good to include "and windows questions" in the blurb for General.
Or: funky groovy idea: change http://www.windowsquestions.org to point to General- can you do that? (ie, technically possible?) (it's an in joke. search for it. ) titanium_geek |

k9 manners won't help you get answers.
As to what people learned on - that's just silly. I'd be willing to bet that 95% of Linux installations are on "PCs". Sure some people play with other platforms too (I've got an HP-RISC running Debian) but I doubt there are many people using it that don't have it on at least one PC. You apparently mistakenly believe PC=Windows which is not the case. PCs were around before Windows (ever hear of CP/M, Basic, DOS?). Linux runs on PCs quite well. As indicated before there is no conspiracy - just an attempt to put threads where they belong. The fact that the board isn't run your way is no reason to be rude. If you don't like this format there are others: Newsgroups, mailing lists, irc etc... It is extremely unlikely berating people here will get you much more than banned from the list. To summarize: Chill out, Dude. |
kb9agt, I'm trying to figure out what you're trying to get across in these two posts and to be honest I can't even tell if I should split them off for being off topic or not.
