Really??
I come here seeking help and am ignored by 70 people so far??? I have looked all over the internet and everyone seems to want to keep this a secret for some odd reason??
How Do I install A different video driver from Rescue in Mageia Linux 3 with a ATI 7310 Graphics chip using console commands? |
70 is not really a lot
and their might be good reason for people to hold off. Firstly, out of those 70+ views, are they just "guests" browsing? Second, and more important They may not know the answer. LQ has an AutoBump feature for zero reply threads, periodically posts with no replies are Auto-magically shunted up the list, so they get more veiws They are also featured on a pre-made search ( Zero Reply Threads ), have a look in the right column. Knowing this, seasoned LQ users do not post with things like "sorry, I can't help you there" as they know it will limit your post's exposure to someone who may know. I don't know anything about Mageia Linux 3, I know a little about ATI drivers. I will have to 'read up' on your card, I will also have to figure out Mageia Patience required. |
Maybe those people are learners as well. Saying you were ignored is over the top and judgemental, you do not know who the people are or what their skill and knowledge levels are. If the people who read your other thread did not know the answer yet replied with complete and utter garbage you'd be a little peeved.

... then you should be able to do commands : In run level 3. ( I have all Nvidia , in all computers, and do not answer Ati / AMD / Radeon graphics questions.) - |
For quick results have you tried the LQ Premium Guru+ Service. For a mere 55€/month you will have the undivided attention of an LQ GURU with a guaranteed response time of 4 hours at most.
Oh wait. That's not LQ at all. LQ is a group of unpaid volunteers who spend some of their free time sharing information about the Gnu/Linux operating system. If you are unhappy with this form of help, I'm sure there are commercial services/coaches who would be quite happy, for a substantial fee, to attend to your urgent needs. jdk |

Also...all you succeeded in doing in your other thread (when you posted the same question twice), is removed it from the zero-reply list, making it LESS VISIBLE, and less likely to be answered. |

And then when you are typing your question, I don't know what it does about hyperlinks, but it wants your code indented by 4 spaces and then it automatically places it within code bars. To go further, it will detect code and note to you that you've pasted code improperly. I thought it would see the code /code markers, but it didn't however it did detect that my section was code and told me to indent it. |
I didn't know the specifics about the sorting of unanswered questions as precisely as TBOne, although I know there are ways to view unanswered questions and typically search through them myself.
However I went first to the top of the Newbie forum and yep ... there's a post there about "Read this first", not much in that one, except two links. One is about bad behavior by using advertisements in the forum; however it was clouded by additional responses. The other link was ... about something technical? I didn't bother to read too much. Why? Because it should instead be a painfully obvious guide or set of rules, not some drawn out discussion with several follow-up posts. Can the "Read this first" thread of this forum be rewritten to show the FAQ or the board usage section? http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/faq.php http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...b3_board_usage I get netiquette, but new people don't always; and giving them some more assistance from the get-go may be advisable here. |
Moved: This thread is more suitable in LQ Suggestion & Feedback and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves. For the technical question about the video driver, please follow discussion in your other thread here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ll-4175472365/

How do you get "Ignored" from 70 views?
70 people looked at your issue. 70 people couldn't or wouldn't help, I wouldn't take it personally. We're all volunteers here. |

shut up And that goes for your other pointless posts as well |
Meanwhile the "Really??" thread has over 300 views and climbing. ;)

I know people have suggested ways to prevent his kind of thing.. but none would have worked here. checking thread titles, well really?? would that work? and I certainly never bother reading rules or FAQ's ( or infraction notices ), why should anyone else. obviously this individual is incredibly impatient We could all just flame them or we could just, .. explain.. and try to help if they ( paraphrasing Wil Wheaton here ) are a Dick, well they always were, always will be. Might as well ( stick two up and ) be polite You can tell people it is all their fault without being direct. Now for you guys that have come here and posted your "oh sooo clever" posts You know who you are ( and so do I ), ignore strike |
Why should people read Frequently Asked Questions?
I could be wrong, but I assume the purpose is to prevent people from asking the same questions repeatedly. Really pointless. |
